About Us

The need for an after hours emergency veterinary facility in the South Bay became evident as the number of veterinarians increased throughout the 1960′s and 1970′s.  In response to this need, thirty-five veterinarians came together to open The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay.  The clinic’s doors first opened on August 30th, 1974 at 2325 Torrance Blvd in Torrance CA.  The goals of  The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay were simple yet necessary, to provide quality emergency medical care to its patients after normal veterinary hospital hours and treat referring clinics clients overnights, on weekends, and on holidays.

As the South Bay community continued to grow, as well as the surrounding veterinary community, The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay expanded as well.   In 1997 a major remodel was completed adding additional exam rooms, storage, offices, and a large kennel area.  A conference room was also added to allow board members and shareholders of The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay to meet on site to discuss business matters and the needs of surrounding veterinarians.

In 2001 a new group of local veterinarians committed to the same principles of quality emergency medicine accepted the reigns of The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay.  Their goal, much like their predecessors, is to continue to provide after hours, weekend and holiday care to the surrounding community as well as the area veterinary clinics.  In an effort to continue to provide service, in 2006 The Emergency Pet Clinic of South Bay was pleased to welcome Surgical Group for Animals to the Torrance facility.  With their addition The Emergency Pet Clinic helped establish a consistent veterinary surgical practice in the South Bay.
